My Attitude of Gratitude

The month of November brings us closer to a time when we hang out around delicious food, the amazing company of family and close friends, and time to reflect how we are grateful for the people and things we have in our lives.  I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as Principal at Plymouth Scholars.  We have a phenomenal supporting cast throughout our school who have a "whatever it takes" attitude when it comes to our scholars.  I love that I "get to" support and wok alongside PSCA difference makers everyday.

Do you have an attitude of gratitude?  For what?

Letter from MAPSA president

October 1, 2014

Today is count day!

This year, parents of more than 140,000 children in Michigan chose to send their children to a charter school. In addition to 140,000 students and their parents, there are thousands of dedicated teachers, leaders and instructional staff that made a personal commitment to charter schools across the state.

While the reasons to work at a charter school vary, as many as there are children, each choice is as personal as the next.

Those personal choices are why we celebrate today!

We are also celebrating the first-ever "Health of the Charter Sector" report, which was released today across the country. In an attempt to determine which states execute charters the best, the report looked at 11 different factors and ranked each state. Michigan ranks 3rd in the nation! We've long known that we're a national model when it comes to charter schools, and this report confirms it.

With the recent effort to close your school, your elected officials in Lansing MUST hear about this good news!

Thank you all for the incredibly hard work you do to educate the next generation. Your personal decisions and careers matter to those 140,000 kids and the thousands of children on waiting lists.

With sincere gratitude,

NUMATS - academic announcement for PSCA MS parents

Some information was shared with me by a PSCA parent that could be beneficial for your student.  Northwestern University’s Midwest Academic Talent Search (NUMATS) is a way to identify kids who need more. Not only does NUMATS provide access to above-grade-level testing, but it also gives parents a roadmap of which classes, extracurricular activities and enrichment programs will benefit their gifted child the most. The mission of NUMATS is to help these bright kids develop the self-confidence, exposure and skills they need to have a positive academic experience.
